Story of the Arboretum
The Arboretum in Baexem boasts over six decades of history. Founded by Dutch gardener Wiel Linssen in the 1960s, it began as a private collection of rare conifers gathered from around the world, growing into one of Europe’s most extensive conifer collections.
In 2019, landscape architect Ivan Juhás from Slovakia acquired the garden. Together with Eva Wernerová, he is shaping it into a contemporary arboretum that honors its heritage while serving as a space for learning, research, and public inspiration.

About the Arboretum
Arboretum Baexem hosts over 1,500 conifer species and cultivars, including Pinus, Abies, Picea, Sequoiadendron, Ginkgo, and Sciadopitys.
Its design combines themed plantings, natural pathways, and year-round displays, offering facilities for guests and students.
Guided by principles of sustainability, the garden recycles organic waste, conserves water, and promotes ecological practices.
It serves as a place of education, research, and inspiration for all who value a close connection with nature.
